Responsibilities and Actions to be Taken

In the event of an aircraft accident the primary consideration is to save lives. In order to accomplish this objective expeditiously, it is necessary to plan to plan the action to be taken in advance and publish orders which clearly denote the responsibility of the various emergency services involved in the emergency.

 

Aircraft crash on the airport includes aircraft incident/accident in the Critical Rescue and Fire Fighting Access Area (CRFFAA) which is a rectangular area surrounding the runway. Its width extends 150 m outward each side of the runway centreline, and its length 1,000 m beyond each threshold.

 

This site of emergency is classified as zone 1, whereby AFRS assumes full responsibility on aircraft incident/accident occurring within this area. AFRS shall make a fun turn out and undertake decisive actions at aircraft incident/accident occurring within this area, with the following exclusion:

  1. Where the terrain within 1,000 m of the threshold, in Zone 1, includes vast expanse of waterlogged area, such as sea, river,etc.;
  2. rugged terrain inaccessible to rescue and fire fighting vehicles where it is envisaged that more specialized equipment are required.

 

During aircraft incident/accident occurring in the above-mentioned paragraphs 2.3.1 and 2.3.2, MASB shall notify and obtain the services of supporting agencies with resources able to transverse these extreme conditions.

 

MASB shall standby and provide assistance and other available resources where required.
